Washington D.C.: STEM for Girls and Minorities

U.S. Department of Education IMG_8988

As part of our coursework on Educational Policy, we traveled to Washington D.C. to meet with those who create and influence policy.  From the U.S. Department of Education to STEM Coalitions to Senators, we had the opportunity to meet with constituents and discuss our platform.  My personal focus was advocating for STEM programs, particularly those that benefit females and minorities.

While we were there, we had the opportunity to meet with:

  • Senator Al Franken, Chair of the Technology Committee
  • ISTE (International Society of Technology Educators)
  • U.S. Department of Education: Office of Educational Technology
  • STEM Education Coalition
  • Senator Maria Cantwell
  • Change the Equation
  • Software and Information Industry
